William Scott Kimberly is an alumnus of Middle Tennessee Christian School and Harding University in Searcy, AR. Scott graduated from Seattle University School of Law where he prioritized trial advocacy for the purpose of being a “courtroom lawyer.” Post-law school, Scott interned at Graham Lundberg & Peschel in Seattle, WA before moving back to Murfreesboro in 2013. In 2015, Scott became a single member LLC, opening his own law practice on the Historic Murfreesboro Public Square. Scott has been admitted to practice law in all Tennessee State Courts and the United States District Court of the Middle District of Tennessee. In 2024, Scott was admitted to the United States Supreme Court and was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts.
Several years ago, Scott adopted Jim Collins’ Hedgehog Concept and focused his business on complex family law matters and criminal defense; however, he encourages anyone with a legal issue outside of this scope to still contact his office so he can connect them with a trustworthy, reputable attorney in that field. Since 2015, Scott has worked closely with Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee to provide free legal clinics at Greenhouse Ministries for the local underserved population. His efforts over the years have not only led to increases in the frequency of clinic sessions, but also a dramatic rise in the number of people who receive free legal services in Rutherford County. In 2017, Scott founded the Kimberly Family Foundation, which awards grants to local non-profit agencies fighting the societal ills of poverty, hunger, and homelessness. Through these charitable efforts, more than $100,000 has been raised and/or donated, and all funds have stayed in Rutherford County.
Scott has served numerous organizations and non-profits with his Board leadership, including Rutherford County Young Republicans, Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association, Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club, Boys & Girls Clubs, Murfreesboro Young Professionals, and more. He has received countless nominations and awards recognizing his philanthropic efforts, along with numerous Ruthies Awards for Favorite Lawyer and Favorite Law Office over the last decade.
Scott and his team aspire to set the benchmark in town for competent, ethical, and transparent legal services, while setting an example to other businesses for community involvement, benevolence, and unmitigated integrity. Scott lives in Murfreesboro with his wife, Denise, and two children, Henry and Julia.
